Green Onions


The new ingredient I am introducing you to today as my secret ingredient is the Green onions. They are great for flavoring dips, sauces, soups, salads, and bring an amazing fresh flavor when added the last minute to the meal. They came from farther east of Europe but were well adopted by the Greeks thousand years ago. Green onions are a great source of vitamin A, C, iron and selenium. They contain a substance that prevents formation of blood clots. Long time ago they were used in cooking only in the spring season but now they are year-round in the market. So, they are my perfect secret ingredient in many dishes.
