Spearmint

Spearmint is a Eurasian plant, very aromatic, used widely as a flavoring for culinary purposes. Spearmint is not native to North America. It has been naturalized a couple centuries ago from Europe. The herb “spearmint” is from the Mint family. The taste of spearmint is similar to those of peppermint, but not as strong. Spearmint is extremely popular in the Balkans, where it is used both fresh and dried with meats, vegetables, rice, and beans. It is a very important ingredient in many Bulgarian and Eastern European recipes. A lot of my dishes include the freshness of the Spearmint.
I love chewing a spearmint and double mint gum, too! J
